Getting to Arthurs Chalet
Getting here by road: ARTHURS CHALET is situated in Arthur's Pass on State Highway 73 (SH73) approximately 2 hours drive west of Christchurch and 1.5 hours east of Greymouth, roughly in the middle of the southern alps and, East and West Coast.
Getting here by public transport: Regular shuttle services operate between Greymouth, Hokitika and Christchurch. The scenic Tranzalpine Express offers a daily, spectacular train journey between Christchurch and Greymouth, stopping at Arthur’s Pass.
Tips about the Journey: The road to Arthur's Pass is in excellent condition and is highly maintained, however there are icy spots during the winter months, especially in the windy bits. The harsh conditions cause very sharp shards of rock to fall into the road, these are notorius for causing punctures, we suggest you go easy and drive to the conditions.
On entry to Arthur's Pass village: from the West (Greymouth), Arthurs Chalet is one of the first buildings on the left, arriving from the East (Christchurch), we can be found at the far end of the village on the right. Arthurs Chalet is a large white swiss style lodge set back from the road with the parking in front.
